Who We Are

I'm Samantha Bergonia, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself as an Occupational Therapy student and a certified Otago instructor with a passion for fall prevention work. With a diverse background in healthcare and a deep commitment to promoting wellness and independence among older adults, I bring a unique blend of expertise to the Central Oregon Otago Program.

What We Do

The Otago fall prevention program, backed by the CDC, is a comprehensive initiative designed to decrease fall risk among older adults by 35%. It begins with individual assessments by certified instructors, evaluating balance, strength, and mobility through specific tests. Participants then engage in tailored group exercise classes, supplemented by independent exercise sessions and walking routines. The program spans 16 weeks, gradually increasing intensity and difficulty. Regular reassessments monitor progress, while weekly data collection tracks adherence and outcomes. In essence, the Otago program provides a structured, evidence-based approach to enhancing physical function and independence for older adults.
