Volunteer: Be a Community Resource Connector!

Be an active participant in your community! Join us as a Community Resource Connector

SAGE is a nonprofit that helps older adults find meaningful pathways to volunteer in their communities. Older adults have experience, wisdom, and resources to engage in their communities, and yet they face barriers too. Community Resource Connectors (or CRCs) help older adults stay engaged and make a difference. As one of our trained CRCs, you learn about local nonprofits that offer volunteer opportunities and you share your knowledge with newcomers, neighbors, colleagues, faith members, and more. SAGE also prioritizes intergenerational relationships and events, and our CRCs are happy to meet and support young adults too!

As a Community Resource Connector, here’s how you help:

You facilitate meaningful, one-to-one discussions with people who would like to learn more about local nonprofits and causes and how they can get involved. SAGE provides you with the resources and contact information you need to facilitate these discussions in cafes, community centers, and other public locales. Through our CRC training, you learn about many organizations that focus on education, the environment, the economy and more. We really appreciate it if you could also promote this opportunity in your circles such as in your book club, place of worship, and let them know you are a resource to help. Very flexible time commitment. We ask volunteers to attend our 60-minute online training, and then to be available to facilitate 3 or more conversations in a year. We also ask volunteers to complete a background check too.

Why serve as a Community Resource Volunteer?

Listening to others is a great way to give forward, feel connected, and stay inspired. As a trained volunteer, you learn about the amazing work done by our local nonprofits providing service to kids, families, seniors, the environment and much more. Together, we can inspire and support people over fifty to apply their experience, wisdom, and resources to strengthen our communities. This is an opportunity to make a difference all while creating a better sense of community and belonging.
