Are you interested in deploying and serving your community during this wildfire season? We are looking for Shelter volunteers willing and able to help the Red Cross provide sheltering at a single shelter throughout the cycle of a disaster.
Minimum Time Commitment:
- To be able to deploy outside the Cascades Region (Oregon and SW Washington): at least 2 weeks in a row (12-hr shifts).
OR
- To be able to deploy inside the Cascades Region: at least 7 days in a row (12-hr shifts).
OR
- To be able to assist within 50 miles of your residence to get a shelter up and running: at least 3 days in a row (12-hr shifts).
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a shelter worker on a disaster relief operation. Roles may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information, or other areas within a shelter.
* Meeting disaster-caused sheltering needs of individuals, families, and communities.
* Providing services with kindness and compassion that are accessible and equitable to all clients.
* Maintaining clear communication and collaboration with supervisor and peers.
