This year, Bend will have its first-ever City Nature Challenge. The City Nature Challenge is a global event that encourages citizen science to find and document wildlife observations while reducing the barriers for people to connect with nature. We will be recording our observations through the iNaturalist app.
A few things to know: this Dirty Freehub ride is going to emphasize the city nature challenge so although we will be riding, expect there to be some time to stop and collect data/images for the bioblitz.
- You will be traveling on multi-use paths with other cyclists and pedestrians.
- We will be using the Dirty Freehub route called Townie which was designed specifically to inspire you to learn the secret ways to commute by bike around Bend and avoiding traffic. While you will see end up on some roads with cars, we did our absolute very best to avoid the cars. We recommend bringing a red blinky light.
- This is not a supported event.
- Download the iNaturalist app for iPhones or Android.
