Tasks include helping clean jars for our packaging reuse program, gardening, cleaning tags, stocking the market, and various small jobs that help streamline the marketplace and support our team so we can continue to focus on food access for Central Oregon. 

We are looking for volunteers to help out on Monday's and Tuesday's! 

Local farmers bring us fresh eggs on Monday and Tuesday mornings and then volunteers help us ensure they are ready to sell. 

Egg Candling hours are from 10am - 3pm and we ask that you help for a minimum of 1.5 hours.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to join our team. This role involves researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for various school initiatives, including teacher salaries, professional development, and educational programs. The Volunteer Grant Writer will work closely with the school's administration to identify funding needs and match them with appropriate grant opportunities.

As Bend and Redmond communities continue to grow at an ever increasing rate, it is not surprising that we are facing a housing crisis. Renters often pay more than half their income and homeownership becomes more unattainable every day, even for those that make 100% of the area median income. If you have a passion for helping others and are interested in learning valuable professional and life skills, you could help strengthen community through shelter by joining the Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity team as an AmeriCorps National Construction Crew Leader.

Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity is looking for (2) more individuals to serve full-time for 10.5 months on our residential construction sites. No construction experience is required but you will need a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a bias to action. For the 2024-2025 AmeriCorps service year, Construction Crew Leaders will assist in the construction of up to 24 new, sustainable homes to be sold at an affordable rate to qualified individuals and families in Bend and Redmond. The primary goals of the position are to assist with day-to-day construction activities, to help maintain a safe and efficient work environment, and to gain the skills and confidence needed to lead groups of volunteers. We also expect our members to achieve an understanding of our mission and goals in order to be an advocate for the organization and to help educate new volunteers. 

Members will receive a modest living allowance, an education award, and access to health care. Bend-Redmond Habitat also provides private subsidized housing and access to our vehicles for work travel.

Do you love books? Are you interested in learning about the Deschutes Public Library collection and how books get processed? This may be the volunteer position for you!

The Library needs assistance moving materials from being checked in back to the shelves. 

You will learn about the book collection at the Deschutes Public Library as well as ensure customers have access to well organized materials.

Must be 12 or older to qualify for this position.

Hours are flexible - Tuesday through Saturday.

Must be able to commit to two hours per week for a minimum of 4-6 months

Girl Scout troop leaders prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure in a safe, all-girl, no-limits environment. Imagine the excitement, memories, and impact you’ll have as you help your girls discover what interests them and how to make a difference in their world. With you as their troop leader, they’ll go as far as their imaginations can take them.

In every Girl Scout troop, two or more leaders work with their girls to plan a progressive series of engaging, challenging, and fun activities like earning badges, exploring science, getting outdoors, selling cookies, and doing community service projects. Troop leaders are supported by Friends and Family troop volunteers, online training and planning tools, a local team of experienced Girl Scout volunteers, and dedicated staff.

Troop leaders often spend between 5-15 hours a month, but what that looks like is totally up to you! As troop leader, you can decide with your troop to meet once a week, once a month, or every few months! 

And don't worry- troop leaders aren't just moms! Anyone that is willing to submit a background check and complete the training can be a troop leader. You don't have to have a child of your own to get involved; all you need is a passion for mentoring the next generation of leaders. We can even help match you with another troop leader and a group of girls! 

 Each Girl Scout troop must have at least two troop leaders who are unrelated and from different households, one of whom must be female.

SOLVE is excited to invite leaders across Central Oregon to connect to their community by becoming SOLVE project leaders! SOLVE supports all of our leaders with free training materials, event supplies, outreach support and more. Projects help bring Oregonians together to enhance our state and create a legacy of stewardship, benefiting communities and wildlife alike!

Oregonians across the state look to SOLVE in the spring and fall during our annual state wide programs to sign up for volunteer projects in their community. Assist with preparing food boxes for clients in need

We use volunteers of all ages for cleaning, yard work, clerical, cooking, special fund raising events, organizing, etc. We use individuals, businesses, community service groups,school groups, youth groups, families, clubs, etc.

Want to be a part of an AWESOME team of teens and young adults making a difference in the lives of their peers?  Become a volunteer with YouthLine in Central Oregon! 

YouthLine is a free, confidential teen-to-teen help, support and crisis line that operates every day from 4-10 PM PST (3-10 PM on Wednesday). Teens call, text, email or chat us with anything that may be bothering them; including issues like family and relationship problems, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other tough issues.  No issue is too big or too small for an individual to reach out about! Staff and volunteers from the YouthLine also offer an outreach program across Oregon to destigmatize mental health challenges, increase awareness for mental health and wellness, and encourage youth to reach out for help.   

We are looking for passionate teens and young adults ages 15-20 living in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties to volunteer with YouthLine! As a YouthLine Peer Crisis Intervention Specialist, you’ll attend one 3.5 hour shift per week where you’ll answer phone calls, texts, emails and chats from other teens who call our helpline. Volunteers are always supervised by masters-level clinicians. You’ll also participate in outreach activities, such as classroom education, tabling, or speaking at an event. 

By volunteering with us, you get to be a powerful voice of hope for other teens and young adults and meet other like-minded volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference! As a volunteer, you’ll receive 63 hours of training and ongoing personal and professional development. On top of that, volunteering with us looks great on resumes and college applications!

We are a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit animal sanctuary and bunny rescue. Rescuing bunnies is our main focus, but we have other animals to interact with as well!

Partners in Care is Central Oregon's oldest and largest hospice. Opportunities for direct patient care with our patients and clients, as well as working "behind the scenes" with prescription deliveries/mailings, etc. We also need volunteers to serve as greeters in our Hospice House which opened in March 2022. 

Come and join a compassionate and supportive team by contributing your time, unique skills, and unhurried presence as we provide unequaled and collaborative patient-centered care.  Partners In Care serves Central Oregon, including Bend, Redmond, Madras, Prineville, La Pine, Sisters, Camp Sherman, Crescent, Gilchrist, Chemult and Christmas Valley.

BEAT is excited to be performing some wonderful and vibrant plays!  Our actors love to have colorful, exciting and meaningful costumes... which requires costume building skills.  We are looking for people with sewing skills, altering skills, or even super-creative hot glue gun skills, to help us costume our shows.  We perform around 3-4 productions a year, so there are lots of opportunities.

Specifically, our coalition of organizations and volunteers is advocating for a building electrification ordinance in Bend, because buildings are the #1 source of emission in the city, and for a Just Transition Fund, to ensure equitable access to clean energy. Join our weekly campaign calls to make a difference in this important work and make lasting connections with fellow climate advocates in Central Oregon. 

A Walking School Bus is a group of students walking to and from school on a planned route two to five days per week with an adult Leader. We are seeking volunteers to help our employed Leaders guide Walking School Buses. Volunteers can assist with event days, tabling, and fill in on the route as needed or when a Leader is out sick.

Volunteers can help with projects such as raking landscaped and natural areas, spreading bark mulch and litter pick up. Other seasonal projects may be available.

This opportunity is currently limited to small groups and is available weekdays between 8 am to 3 pm.

The Central Oregon Partnerships for Youth (COPY) program provides one-to-one community-based mentoring for kids that have an incarcerated parent. Volunteers receive initial classroom training, background checks, and individualized coaching to work with the youth they are matched up with. These youth are not involved in the criminal justice system—they are youth that have been impacted by the choices of their adult caregiver.

Volunteers commit to spending a couple of hours each week with their youth. Often they are engaged in community outings, art projects, or youth enrichment with business and civic partners. This could be exploring the High Desert Museum, participating in park and rec programs, jumping at trampoline parks, climbing in rock gyms, riding bikes, swimming, and much more.

COPY youth are between 5 and 15 years old and live in Deschutes County. Volunteers work with their youth for 1 year- building a relationship and connection. Often, mentors continue past that initial year. They can connect after school, after work, or during weekends. There is a high degree of flexibly in scheduling that time.

Visitation Volunteers would regularly visit COGAP clients that are in facility-based care.  These volunteers would chit chat with them, maybe play cards or just listen to them.  The idea behind this volunteer job is to make them feel cared for and not forgotten.  COGAP will set up a training beforehand and volunteers can shadow staff on visits until they feel comfortable doing it by themselves.  It's very rewarding for all parties involved!  We will conduct background checks on all volunteers.  

When COGAP clients are moved into facility-based care, they usually enter without any items.  We need these volunteers to collect toiletries, solicit for donations of certain items that clients need such as clothes, slippers, underwear, t-shirts and comfy pants, etc.

Many times when people are in facility-based care, COGAP needs to repair things in their home to get ready for selling.  Or COGAP needs to clean out a home, make trips to the thrift stores, etc., to get the house ready to sell.  A Jack and Jill of All Trades would be notified by COGAP of different opportunities that may come up.  It's a fun job!

Volunteers that don't mind lifting heavy things, or working with just one other person - this could be for you. We get massive deliviries, and our equipment needs upkeep, training provided.

Whether or not you have experience in the kitchen, we'd love your help cooking one of our multitude of meals! Ingredents & aprons provided. 

Meal delivery ranges from transporting the shelter dinner, delivering meals to different locations, or taking one bag of meals to one place.

Come join Friends of the Crook County Library for a fun book sale at the Crook County Library in Prineville Oregon.  Volunteers are needed on Saturday March 16 at 8:30 AM to set up the sale; 10:00 AM to staff the sale: and 1:10 PM to pack up unsold books. You can help with one or more of these tasks, ranging from 2 to 4 hours in duration.  The sale starts at 10:00 AM and runs until 1:00 PM.  

Parental consent is needed for volunteers under age 18.

Signature Volunteers are the very BEST! We're excited to announce that we have recently opened our newest Hospice agency location, right here in Bend. We will be providing care to those who live in Redmond, Sisters, Bend and La Pine.

Hospice volunteers don’t need any specific kind of experience, but must be able to pass a criminal background check. Volunteering can be an opportunity to learn new skills, or to use the abilities you already have. We provide the training needed.

We have many different types of volunteer opportunities, and some require as little as an hour or two a week. Just let us know how much time you’d like to give, and we’ll find the right volunteer position for you.

As a volunteer with Signature Hospice, you have several options to choose from. We offer a variety of different ways to become a part of our team, including:

1. Direct Patient Care/ Family Support Volunteers provide personal care or emotional support and practical assistance, which enhance the comfort and quality of life for patients and families/caregivers. They’re a caring, friendly face for chatting, reading, playing games, watching TV, listening to music, and sharing stories. Volunteer visits also offer respite to the family caregiver, who can take a break from caregiving — and even leave the house to run errands or relax.

2. Vigil Volunteers provide a supportive presence during a patient’s final hours. They offer a beautiful final gift of peace and solace to those they serve. Vigil Volunteers may hold the person’s hand, speak or read to them, play the person’s favorite music, or simply be a comforting presence at the bedside. Vigil visits also help reassure family members, who may not be able to stay with the patient. 

3. Office volunteers lend their services working in our administrative office. Some administrative tasks are organizing, filing, collating, data entry, phone calls and more.. Their behind-the-scenes contributions help our vital services to operate efficiently. 

4. Bereavement Volunteers make phone calls to those who’ve recently experienced a loss. They make calls at 2 months and 10 months with the bereaved, and remind them that Signature Hospice is still there for them if they need grief support or other assistance.

5. Vet-to-Vet Volunteers provide support from military veterans to Signature Hospice veteran patients. Veterans often appreciate contact with another vet – someone who personally experienced the culture of military service – even if they served during a different time or place. Vet-to-Vet Volunteers may share stories and experiences; assist with pinning, medal and blanket presentations; record stories to preserve in the Library of Congress or for the family’s legacy, and help obtain missing medals.

6. Pet Therapy Volunteers provide direct support to our patients through visits with their already-certified therapy dogs. 

7. Music Performers share the gift of music with patients and their friends living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These hospice volunteers must be comfortable performing for groups, and provide their own instruments (if applicable).

What are the steps to become a volunteer with Signature Hospice? First, contact us about your interest in becoming a hospice volunteer. If you’ve recently experienced a loss, we ask that you wait a year before volunteering. You do not have to be a healthcare professional to be a hospice care volunteer with Signature. Signature Volunteers are the very BEST! We're excited to announce that we have recently opened our newest Hospice agency location, right here in Bend. We will be providing care to those who live in Redmond, Sisters, Bend and La Pine.

Hospice volunteers don’t need any specific kind of experience, but must be able to pass a criminal background check. Volunteering can be an opportunity to learn new skills, or to use the abilities you already have. We provide the training needed.

We have many different types of volunteer opportunities, and some require as little as an hour or two a week. Just let us know how much time you’d like to give, and we’ll find the right volunteer position for you.

As a volunteer with Signature Hospice, you have several options to choose from. We offer a variety of different ways to become a part of our team, including:

1. Direct Patient Care/ Family Support Volunteers provide personal care or emotional support and practical assistance, which enhance the comfort and quality of life for patients and families/caregivers. They’re a caring, friendly face for chatting, reading, playing games, watching TV, listening to music, and sharing stories. Volunteer visits also offer respite to the family caregiver, who can take a break from caregiving — and even leave the house to run errands or relax.

2. Vigil Volunteers provide a supportive presence during a patient’s final hours. They offer a beautiful final gift of peace and solace to those they serve. Vigil Volunteers may hold the person’s hand, speak or read to them, play the person’s favorite music, or simply be a comforting presence at the bedside. Vigil visits also help reassure family members, who may not be able to stay with the patient. 

3. Office volunteers lend their services working in our administrative office. Some administrative tasks are organizing, filing, collating, data entry, phone calls and more.. Their behind-the-scenes contributions help our vital services to operate efficiently. 

4. Bereavement Volunteers make phone calls to those who’ve recently experienced a loss. They make calls at 2 months and 10 months with the bereaved, and remind them that Signature Hospice is still there for them if they need grief support or other assistance.

5. Vet-to-Vet Volunteers provide support from military veterans to Signature Hospice veteran patients. Veterans often appreciate contact with another vet – someone who personally experienced the culture of military service – even if they served during a different time or place. Vet-to-Vet Volunteers may share stories and experiences; assist with pinning, medal and blanket presentations; record stories to preserve in the Library of Congress or for the family’s legacy, and help obtain missing medals.

6. Pet Therapy Volunteers provide direct support to our patients through visits with their already-certified therapy dogs. 

7. Music Performers share the gift of music with patients and their friends living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These hospice volunteers must be comfortable performing for groups, and provide their own instruments (if applicable).

What are the steps to become a volunteer with Signature Hospice? First, contact us about your interest in becoming a hospice volunteer. We are gearing up for our 2024 Build season. We will be completing the last unit in our Putney Place Community. We want everyone to start thinking of when they would like to volunteer. We are aiming to start in April and the build will go on until about the end of October. Start thinking of friends and family that would be interested. We'd love to have you join in and teach our kids -- drawing, painting, singing, drumming, knitting -- you pick!!  We hold classes for children aged 5-18 who attend our groups to provide emotional support and connection, giving them a space to build confidence and to express themselves.

We need climate action now! Buildings are the #1 source of emissions in Bend, OR. 350 Deschutes is urging the city council to act fast on reducing that number. We are petitioning for: all new buildings be built 100% electric by 2025, 80% of existing buildings have electric space and water heating by 2040, and the create a Just Transition Fund so that clean energy is accessible to everyone in our community. 

Committee Members have a variety of skills and help with tasks such as, marketing the petition, research, attending community events to canvas the petition, assist with social media content, contact local businesses to spread awareness of the petition, website assistance, attend council meetings, write Op/Eds, and so much more.  Your role will coincide with your interests and skills.  We have biweekly or monthly Zoom meetings depending on need.

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment by greeting folks as they enter the building, helping guide them to the area of the building where they seek services, assist with any needed information and should they have come into the building by mistake, guide them to the right building within the public safety campus.

Volunteers provide help for Rimrock Trails programs in a number of substantive ways, enhancing the treatment experience of our clients and providing support to staff.  We work to match each volunteer with opportunities to suit their talents, interest, and availability.

Volunteer activities are focused on motivating and supporting clients in building the character strengths, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices and the pursuit of higher education, employment, and goals. Volunteers give youth who are receiving treatment services from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure as they help pave the way to a path for a brighter future.

Volunteers must be at least 21 and are required to go through the same clearances and background checks as employees. You will also complete a short training that covers important information about safety and privacy issues and some basics about working for our agency.

Recreational/Life Skills Activities

Volunteers help enhance the experience, education, social and life skills of youth in the residential treatment program at Rimrock Trails. You can assist with an existing program or create your own by teaching a trade, craft, or other skill. Some examples include drawing or painting, card making, gardening, exercise, knitting or crocheting, budgeting, first aid, writing a thank you letter, developing a resume, instruction on rock climbing wall, creative writing is also an option.

Community Engagement Team (Opportunities in Bend, Redmond, and Prineville)

The Rimrock Trails Community Engagement Committee is composed of volunteers who are passionate about promoting the mission of Rimrock Trails to the community, organizing fundraisers and special events, and inspiring others to volunteer. The committee meets for one hour per month, usually on a Thursday morning.

Position

The Board will support the work of Community Solutions and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Community Solutions Executive Director (ED), the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Members of Friends of the Crook County Library are eligible to join our board of directors. The volunteer board of directors for Friends manages the business and finances of Friends, plans and coordinates book sales, oversees the operation of Chapters and Friends Bookstores in the library, and leads the sorting and storage of book donations.

If you are interested in joining the board, you may attend a board meeting to learn more about the board. You’ll be provided with an information packet that provides background on Friends and the responsibilities of board members. Meetings are currently held on the third Wednesday of the month from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Broughton Room in the Crook County Library in Prineville, Oregon. Calling all book lovers! If you are looking for a way to meet new people and share your love of books with others while supporting the beautiful Crook County Library, located in Prineville, Oregon, Friends is for you! Friends has numerous opportunities to volunteer:  Chapters Bookstore in the Crook County Library, monthly book sales, and joining the Board of Directors to name a few. Other opportunities include general book sorting, restocking Friends Bookstore, helping with membership mailings, and preparing graphics and other materials for Friends purposes.

Helping with book sales is a fun way you can get involved. Sales are generally held on the third Saturday of each month, with larger sales twice a year. Sales run from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the larger sales starting at 9:00 am. Potential volunteers from our volunteer list are notified of opportunities prior to the sales. Volunteers may sign up for specific tasks, such as transporting books, organizing books on tables, staffing the sales, and packing up unsold books. Don’t worry if you are not able to lift boxes, you can still help with unpacking/packing books and staffing the sales. Volunteers may be under the age of 18 with parental consent.

If you are a fan of children’s books, consider volunteering in Chapters bookstore, operated by Friends of the Crook County Library. This cozy bookstore, located inside Crook County library in Prineville, Oregon, has an impressive collection of children’s books. Proceeds from sales of books in Chapters support Crook County Library programs. 

Volunteers staff the bookstore, sort incoming book donations, and restock shelves. The bookstore is currently open Tuesday through Saturday for approximately three hours per day. Volunteers may work one or more shifts a week. Volunteers should be over the age of 18. Some standing and lifting of books is involved.

Volunteer Regional Duty Officer / Volunteer Dispatcher:  The Regional Duty Officer (RDO) is the on-call operations lead for the Cascades Region and ensures a timely and appropriate response to emergencies that occur with the region.  The RDO receives the initial request for assistance from first response agencies and individuals that have experienced a disaster; coordinates the mobilization and deployment of initial responders to the disaster scene; and provides ongoing technical assistance and deployment of additional support resources as needed.

This is a volunteer opportunity that can be done remotely from your home. 

We are looking for volunteers to help us with marketing and promoting our nonprofit farming and nutrition education organization. The Marketing Assistant’s role will be filled by someone who has experience with digital content creation and social marketing. This volunteer will be working closely with our executive team to promote and grow awareness of our organization and create materials for specific project promo needs.

We are looking for somebody who is capable, proactive and passionate about helping our cause of improving access to and affordability of healthy, locally grown produce. This is a particularly great opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable relevant work experience in the fields of design and marketing as you would be working under the guidance of a full service design agency. This volunteer position would be on-site at the design agency’s Bend office location for some or all of your contributed hours.

Regular Duties

We are looking for volunteers to join our nonprofit farming and nutrition education organization. The Fundraising Assistant’s role will need to be filled by someone who has sufficient experience with fundraising. This volunteer will be working closely with our executive team to develop fundraising plans which could include inquiring for donations from local businesses, attending networking events, and assisting with grant applications.

We are looking for somebody who is a self-starter and motivated, and this opportunity would provide additional weekly support from our team as needed. Equine Outreach is seeking a compassionate and driven Executive Director to champion our cause. This volunteer role presents an exciting opportunity to serve our local community in Bend, OR, directly impacting the lives of horses in need and shaping the future of our organization.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, business and community service experience, preferably with a background in animal welfare. The ability to articulate a compelling vision for the future of Equine Outreach, inspiring and motivating staff, volunteers, and donors, is essential.

Approx 10-15 hours/week.

From there, we focus on providing top-grade medical care, rehabilitation, positive training, and all the love, hugs, and TLC we can give. We have a number of different volunteer opportunities available - there is something for everyone who loves horses, even those that may not be in a position to volunteer on the ground!

We are looking to grow and diversity our Board of Directors!  We are looking for exceptional people with diverse backgrounds and skills and a desire to help horses in need.  No horse experience is required! 

We are specifically in need of Board Members with strong fundraising and development skills to help spearhead fundraising initiatives to support the organization's sustainability and growth. Additionally, we are seeking individuals to support community outreach efforts, raising awareness about our mission and forging meaningful partnerships within the community. 

All Board Members will contribute to strategic planning, governance, and overall decision-making for the organization. If you are passionate about equine welfare and are interested in helping a small, local nonprofit that supports this cause, we invite you to join our dedicated team as we work together to provide care and compassion for horses in need.

Our organization, The Peaceful Presence Project, has created an evidence-based, holistic end of life planning workbook. It is called endnotes and you can see more information about the tool on our website HERE. 

It's an incredible guidebook that is being used by individuals, hospice systems, estate planners, estate lawyers, financial advisors, etc. Our organization would like to ramp up our marketing and PR efforts for the tool and strategically work to expand awareness and use of the guidebook. We need support from individuals with marketing and/or sales experience who could assist us in developing a strategic/business plan for widening our audience and target markets. The planning tool has received great feedback and is a viable means of financially supporting our organizational services. With some marketing and PR support from a skilled individual, we'd ideally expand both the reach and impact of this unique guidebook. 

The Peaceful Presence Project is dependent upon individual donations and foundation support in order to make our end of life services and educational opportunities available to the community. We are seeking fundraising assistance from  individual(s) who have notable development experience. At present, we are looking for support with:

1) general grant research and the identification of foundations/funders that are aligned with our organizational mission
2) grant proposal writing support/guidance
3) assistance with 2-year outreach plan for individual donors
