If you have a passion for helping others and are interested in learning valuable professional and life skills, you could help strengthen community through shelter by joining the Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity team as an AmeriCorps National Construction Crew Leader.

Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity is looking for (2) more individuals to serve full-time for 10.5 months on our residential construction sites. No construction experience is required but you will need a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a bias to action. For the 2024-2025 AmeriCorps service year, Construction Crew Leaders will assist in the construction of up to 24 new, sustainable homes to be sold at an affordable rate to qualified individuals and families in Bend and Redmond. The primary goals of the position are to assist with day-to-day construction activities, to help maintain a safe and efficient work environment, and to gain the skills and confidence needed to lead groups of volunteers. We also expect our members to achieve an understanding of our mission and goals in order to be an advocate for the organization and to help educate new volunteers. 

Members will receive a modest living allowance, an education award, and access to health care. Bend-Redmond Habitat also provides private subsidized housing and access to our vehicles for work travel.

Teens call, text, email or chat us with anything that may be bothering them; including issues like family and relationship problems, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other tough issues.  No issue is too big or too small for an individual to reach out about! Staff and volunteers from the YouthLine also offer an outreach program across Oregon to destigmatize mental health challenges, increase awareness for mental health and wellness, and encourage youth to reach out for help.   

We are looking for passionate teens and young adults ages 15-20 living in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties to volunteer with YouthLine! As aYouthLine Peer Crisis Intervention Specialist, you’ll attend one 3.5 hour shift per week where you’ll answer phone calls, texts, emails and chats from other teens who call our helpline. Volunteers are always supervised by masters-level clinicians. You’ll also participate in outreach activities, such as classroom education, tabling, or speaking at an event. 

By volunteering with us, you get to be a powerful voice of hope for other teens and young adults and meet other like-minded volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference! As a volunteer, you’ll receive 63 hours of training and ongoing personal and professional development. On top of that, volunteering with us looks great on resumes and college applications!

Position

The Board will support the work of Community Solutions and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

 

Leadership, governance and oversight

Serving as a trusted adviser to the ED as s/he develops and implements the Community Solutions strategic plan. Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by Community Solutions for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings. Approving the Community Solutions annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities. Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the ED. Assisting the Board President and established committees in identifying and recruiting other Board Members. Partnering with the ED and other Board Members to ensure that Board Resolutions are carried out.

 

Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments. Representing Community Solutions to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization. Ensuring that Community Solutions’ commitment to a diverse Board and staff reflects the communities the organization serves.

Fundraising

Community Solutions Board Members should consider the organization a philanthropic priority worthy of their time and talent. As Community Solutions does periodically solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, our Board Members are encouraged, but not required to make annual contributions commensurate with their capacity to do so. We have a number of different volunteer opportunities available - there is something for everyone who loves horses, even those that may not be in a position to volunteer on the ground! 

Current key needs include: 

Horse Care volunteers: Supporting our ranch manager and volunteer team in feeding, watering, medicating, grooming and mucking.  Facilities work volunteers: Supporting our facilities manager in continuously improving our facilities to make it the best possible environment for both our equines and our volunteers to be. At Equine Outreach Horse Rescue, we believe that every horse deserves respect, dignity, love, and compassionate care. Based in Bend, OR, we accept as many abused, neglected, medically compromised, senior, and equines with uncertain futures as we can. From there, we focus on providing top-grade medical care, rehabilitation, positive training, and all the love, hugs, and TLC we can give. Some horses become sanctuary horses or hospice horses who remain in our care, while others are carefully and meticulously adopted or fostered out into loving homes.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have a number of different volunteer opportunities available - there is something for everyone who loves horses, even those that may not be in a position to volunteer on the ground! 

Current key needs include: 

Horse Care volunteers: Supporting our ranch manager and volunteer team in feeding, watering, medicating, grooming and mucking.  Facilities work volunteers: Supporting our facilities manager in continuously improving our facilities to make it the best possible environment for both our equines and our volunteers to be. This includes pen building, preparing for winter, grounds cleanup and improvements, etc.  Administration Coordinator (remote ok): Supporting our ED in managing all key organizational level administrative tasks including but not limited to managing vendor partnerships, industry memberships, insurance policies, state licensing requirements etc.  Community Outreach Coordinator (part remote): Supporting our Board of Directors and ED in developing relationships with other equine rescue and animal welfare organizations, joining and participating in local and national industry groups managing EOI community service programs, coordinating visitors trips to the EOI ranch including local aged care and other similar groups, etc.   Additional Information We request a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week Training is provided for all volunteer positions Any additional skill sets are welcome to apply

We are looking to grow and diversity our Board of Directors!  We are looking for exceptional people with diverse backgrounds and skills and a desire to help horses in need.  No horse experience is required! 

We are specifically in need of Board Members with strong fundraising and development skills to help spearhead fundraising initiatives to support the organization's sustainability and growth. Additionally, we are seeking individuals to support community outreach efforts, raising awareness about our mission and forging meaningful partnerships within the community. 

All Board Members will contribute to strategic planning, governance, and overall decision-making for the organization. If you are passionate about equine welfare and are interested in helping a small, local nonprofit that supports this cause, we invite you to join our dedicated team as we work together to provide care and compassion for horses in need.

Additional Information Board membership is a volunteer position Time commitment equates to approx. 3 hours/week Board Members can be located anywhere in the US, with West Coast timezone being preferable  Any additional skill sets are welcome to apply

Our organization, The Peaceful Presence Project, has created an evidence-based, holistic end of life planning workbook. It is called endnotes and you can see more information about the tool on our website HERE. 

It's an incredible guidebook that is being used by individuals, hospice systems, estate planners, estate lawyers, financial advisors, etc. Our organization would like to ramp up our marketing and PR efforts for the tool and strategically work to expand awareness and use of the guidebook. We need support from individuals with marketing and/or sales experience who could assist us in developing a strategic/business plan for widening our audience and target markets. The planning tool has received great feedback and is a viable means of financially supporting our organizational services. With some marketing and PR support from a skilled individual, we'd ideally expand both the reach and impact of this unique guidebook.
