Want to be a mentor to an AWESOME team of teens and young adults making a difference in the lives of their peers?  Interested in gaining hands-on experience using crisis intervention and de-escalation skills? Become a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine in Central Oregon! 

YouthLine is a free, confidential teen-to-teen help, support and crisis line that operates every day from 4-10 PM PST (3-10 PM on Wednesday). Teens call, text, email or chat us with anything that may be bothering them; including issues like family and relationship problems, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other tough issues.  No issue is too big or too small for an individual to reach out about! Volunteers are always supervised by masters-level clinicians. Additionally, staff and volunteers from the YouthLine offer an outreach program across Oregon to destigmatize mental health challenges, increase awareness for mental health and wellness, and encourage youth to reach out for help.   

We are looking for passionate adults (21+) with experience or education in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related fields in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties to become a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine! The Coaching Volunteer position offers adult volunteers the opportunity to mentor youth volunteers on YouthLine, while providing support to the YouthLine masters-level supervisor. Coaching volunteers go through extra training that allows them to effectively mentor our youth on crisis calls; and receive certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, at no cost to the volunteer. Coaching Volunteers commit to volunteer at least 7 hours a week during YouthLine Hours.

By volunteering with us, you get to be a powerful voice of hope for other teens and young adults! As a Coaching Volunteer, you’ll receive extensive training and ongoing personal and professional development. Becoming a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine is a great way to earn internship credits and/or practicum or service hours! On top of that, volunteering with us looks great on resumes and scholarship award or graduate school applications!

Prepare a meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. We provide a stocked home kitchen. Check our pantry and freezer inventory list for ingredients or provide your own and create a comforting meal. Or, do you enjoy baking.  Share your skills with the families and bake up a treat. This is a one-time or ongoing opportunity.

Come and volunteer to lead art/craft activities for a great group of seniors and have some fun at the same time! Art projects or crafting ideas that are age and ability appropriate for our seniors. Supplies are provided if you bring the expertise! Possibly one to two times per month.

We are looking for some fun and engaging folks who would love to share their musical abilities with our residents--they love the classics, folk music, country, and music from the 30's through present day. If you like to play music or sing for others, we have some great opportunities for you at least twice a month!

Freedom Stickers containing the National Human Trafficking Hotline are placed in restroom stalls across the country as a pathway to freedom for victims of human trafficking. Research shows that posting the National Human Trafficking Hotline in public places is one of the best ways to stop human trafficking. As of 2017, Freedom Stickers are in public restrooms in all 50 states!

Public restroom stalls are a safe place for a victim of human trafficking to reach out for help because it is one of the only times that they are ever alone. Potential victims of human trafficking can memorize the number or use their cell phone to call or text the hotline. IN OUR BACKYARD knows of specific survivors who have been recovered as a result of Freedom Stickers. We know that Freedom Stickers save lives and our hope is that more victims of human trafficking would see a Freedom Sticker and begin on their path to freedom and restoration.

Freedom Stickers should go on the back of the restroom stall door, or on the mirror if there is no stall. The Stickers should be posted in both the Men’s and Women’s restroom. While a higher percentage of women are sex trafficked, boys and men are also victims of human trafficking. Additionally, public awareness is critical to stopping human trafficking and men represent the majority of the demand for sex trafficking in our country.

Watch "Juanita" light up when her Volunteer Pet visits each week. Chloe, a Black Lab with enough unconditional love for all, provides a calm and affectionate presence! Remarkable observations have been made when patients interact with pets. They smile more often and surprisingly have normal heart rate and lower blood pressure. The men and women in Hospice would love some companionship from a 4-legged friend. Cats are welcome too!

Pets must be certified Pet Therapy animals.

Attend local events with our booth set up and retail items to establish a presence in the community, educate the public about our mission with the objective of recruiting volunteers. Events may be indoor or outdoor depending on who is putting on the event. 

This is a mostly administrative position. Looking for someone who is well organized and can recruit, keep track of volunteers and their hours. This person must coordinate volunteers for outreach and fundraising events. Must be able to delegate tasks to those with competent skills, someone with experience in human resources or who can demonstrate leadership in most roles. Knows how to use excel or google spreadsheets. Should know how or be willing to learn Constant Contact software to send out communications. Professionalism, good grammar and punctuation is ideal for this position as a representative of our organization. We need someone who is willing to attend our board meetings once a month which are approximately 90 minutes long, however most work can be done remotely. 

This position requires knowledge of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) someone who is familiar with all avenues of marketing including website and print media helpful. 

Work in the pantry filling food boxes for our hungry neighbors.  

Heart of Oregon is currently seeking Volunteer Tutors to assist students ages 16-24 in improving their math and literacy levels while studying for their GED tests. Tutors will work with students in a supervised one-to-one environment on a regular basis; some small group tutoring experiences may also be available. Tutors can focus on subject areas they feel most confident in.

Young people join the Heart of Oregon Corps to improve their community and their individual lives. Heart of Oregon Corps provides opportunities for young adults to further their education, gain job skills, and become a positive part of the community. Our board members are an integral part of what we do here at St. Vincent de Paul Bend. Board members are expected to show up and participate in board meetings on the second Wednesday of the month, maintain updated with current events at St. Vincent de Paul, and network with the community to find potential partners. During board meetings, we review the organization's financial situation, discuss the status of our social services, and vote on important issues affecting our operations. Our board is very active, assisting with the overall mission, planning, and development of our organization. 

The Tower Theatre is looking for volunteers to do photographing of events for the website and brochures.    Please note, you must have your own camera.    

The Tower Theatre Foundation is seeking Finance Committee volunteers.  The Treasurer leads the committee which reports to the Board of Directors.  The Committee oversees and supports staff and the Board of Directors in budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring the financial performance and position of the Foundation.  Meetings are held once per month for staff and the committee to review the Foundation’s financial performance and discuss current activities.  Audits are conducted once per year by an independent accounting firm which reports their conclusions to the Committee.  Volunteers with experience and knowledge of accounting, banking, or operational budgets will be best suited for this role.  The Finance Committee is a great introduction to the organization for people interested in joining the Board of Directors. The Tower Theatre Foundation is seeking volunteer candidates for the Board of Directors.  The current board has 14 members and new members join at the start of each fiscal year in July.  Candidates need to meet with current board members and staff leaders during the six months prior to nominations to determine if there is a fit between the volunteer’s interests and availability and the organization’s needs and expectations. Meetings are held once per month.  Board members also contribute their time between meetings in at least one area of the organization that interests them. Job Description

The High Desert Challenge Course is a part of the OSU Extension Service in Deschutes County, providing guided adventure exploration and experiential learning to members of our community. The HDCC enables participants to set achievable goals, focus on solutions, and learn new strategies to problem solve and push past personal limits. We work with youth, teens, families, adults, schools, non-profits and corporate groups at our course, which is located outdoors near the OSU Extension Service on the Deschutes County Fairgrounds. 

We have an incredible team of well-trained facilitators and we want you to join us! We have an annual new volunteer facilitator

training in the Spring time. As a volunteer facilitator, you are required to attend two trainings, facilitate group meetings throughout the year (when it fits in your schedule), and bring a positive attitude to the course.

Time commitment: One trainings (~16 hours), Events (3-4 hours)

Approx. Time Annually: about 40 hours to 100 hours. This depends on how many events you can facilitate

Skills Required: No prior climbing experience necessary. Patience and ability to work with youth and adults.

Volunteer Description

We are looking for someone to set-up 4-H Record Book checks and organize volunteers for the Record Book checks in Redmond. This position will require you to arrange the location for the record book checks, set-up and take down, and arrange for the appropriate number of volunteers to be present. You will also be expected to attend the record book checks in Redmond and assist Bend or Lapine if needed. Record book dates and times already determined. 

Time Commitment: Attend both Record Book Checks in Redmond (4 hours), organize checks and volunteers (4-6 hours)

Approx. Time Annually: 10-15 hours

Job Description

Do you have experience working with robotics, programming, and/ or coding? If so, become a Robotics Leader for Deschutes County 4-H! Robotics is an exciting and innovative technology that opens the doors for our youth to a world of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. As a robotics leader, you hold monthly meetings, assist the youth in building their robots, fundraising for your clubs robotic kits, and create challenges for them to work through. 

Time Commitment: New Leader Training (2 hours), Monthly Meetings (1.5 each), Prep for meetings (1-3 hours), Fundraising

Skills required: Knowledge about robotics, coding, and programming. Enjoys working with youth. Fundraising experience preferred 

We are looking for 4-H Club Leaders in many project areas, most especially Home Economics, Cloverbuds and Science & Technology. We also looking for Expressive Arts, Dog, and Shooting Sports. As a club leader, how you run your club is up to you - where, when, and how often you meet, including the ages of kids that join your club! Typically a club will met once a week to once a month, and get together to learn about a specific project area together. Then in the summer, your kids will display something or compete in a contest at the Deschutes County Fair to test their skills! It's all about hands-on learning and fun. Base Camp Studio is currently seeking new board members to join our expanding team. We provide affordable and accessible art classes and art therapy groups for children and young adults. We are looking for board members who care about our mission and bring a variety of skills and perspectives. 

Prune, weed, plant, harvest. Help us maintain our xeriscaping, plant annuals and perennials, plant and tend our vegetable and herb garden beds, and help us harvest produce to use in our kitchen. This is a one-time or ongoing opportunity.

Our Social Media volunteers work from home and create a schedule that works with their availability. Volunteers typically spend 1-3 hours a week researching, scheduling, and posting. We give you a few organizational and event specific guidelines; however, we want you to be creative in engaging our Central Oregon community.  This position is unpaid, but tickets to Tower Theatre Foundation presented events will be taken into consideration. Monday mornings at 9am ride on the St. Vincent de Paul truck to Neighbor Impact to help our driver pick up our weekly allotment of food from the Neighbor Impact warehouse. Must be able to life up to 80lbs and get in and out of the truck. 

Every Monday morning drive to Neighbor Impact warehouse in Redmond to pick up St. Vincent de Paul's allotment of food. Need to be able to lift up to 80lbs and have experience driving large trucks. 

Pick up donations with your vehicle from local grocery stores and deliver to the pantry at St. Vincent de Paul. 

House Warmers undergo several hours of training to "run" the front office of the Bend Ronald McDonald House, assisting families, greeting donors, and managing calls from constituents.  These volunteers join us for a scheduled time period, typically 3-10 hours each week.
