Volunteer: Grow With Us: Join the Seed to Table Board of Directors

At Seed to Table, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food and the chance to learn with their hands in the soil. Over the past decade, our community has grown an educational farm that now nourishes thousands of people each week through fresh produce, school programs, and the Sisters Farmers Market. None of this happens without the steady care of our Board of Directors — a group of neighbors and leaders who help guide and sustain this work.

We are now inviting new Board members to join us in this next season of growth.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome people from all backgrounds and life experiences. Some of our board members bring professional expertise; others bring the wisdom of lived experience and deep community connection. All share a commitment to equity, collaboration, and building a healthier Central Oregon.

This year, we are especially seeking individuals with:

Financial management experience — such as budgeting, planning, or guiding organizational resources – to support our already strong fiscal stewardship.

Fundraising and relationship-building skills — whether that looks like donor cultivation, community partnerships, or creative resource development — to help ensure our programs thrive for years to come.

What It Means to Serve

As a Board member, you’ll be both a steward and a collaborator. Our board partners alongside the Executive Director, staff, neighbors, partners, and patrons to nurture the land, community, and connections that sustain us. Together we,

Steward fiduciary responsibilities — ensuring financial integrity, legal compliance, and alignment with our mission and values.

Partner with the Executive Director in resource development by building relationships, engaging in fundraising efforts, and making the ask when necessary.

Reflect our culture of care in asking thoughtful/curious questions and listening with care.

Hold space for equity-centered learning and growth at every level of our work.

Volunteer alongside staff and neighbors to bring Seed to Table’s mission to life.

Board members typically commit to:

11 meetings per year plus our annual retreat

About 10–15 hours per month of committee work, volunteering, or community engagement.

Contributing in ways that fit your strengths and capacity — knowing board members give differently and all contributions matter.

Why Join?

Serving on the Seed to Table Board is about more than governance — it’s about being part of a community that believes in the power of fresh food, hands-on education, and neighbors taking care of one another. You’ll join a group that balances hard work with joy, and strategy with compassion.

If you’re ready to dig in and help grow healthy communities from the ground up, we would love to hear from you. Please complete this application by Monday, November 10th.

Volunteer: Executive Director - Equine Rescue

Executive Director – Equine Outreach Horse Rescue

Location: Bend, Oregon
Type: Volunteer (Approx. 15 hours/week)

Our Mission

At Equine Outreach Horse Rescue, we believe every horse deserves a life filled with respect, dignity, love, and compassionate care. Based in the heart of Central Oregon, we open our gates to abused, neglected, medically fragile, senior, and at-risk equines — offering them not only safety but a new beginning.
Through expert medical care, rehabilitation, patient training, and endless affection, we help horses heal in body and spirit. Some find forever sanctuary or peaceful hospice care here, while others move on to carefully chosen adoptive or foster homes where they can thrive.
Every rescue story is a testament to hope — and to the people who make it possible.

The Opportunity

Equine Outreach is seeking a compassionate, visionary Executive Director to lead with heart and purpose.
This is more than a leadership role — it’s an opportunity to change lives, both human and equine. As our Executive Director, you’ll help shape the future of Equine Outreach, inspiring our volunteers, supporters, and community to stand beside us in our mission to give every horse a chance to heal and be loved.

Key Responsibilities

Lead with Purpose: Partner with the Ranch Manager to support smooth daily operations and uphold the highest standards of equine care. Inspire Volunteers: Support the Volunteer Manager in recruiting, training, and retaining a strong, compassionate team dedicated to our mission. Guide the Journey: Oversee the intake, adoption, and foster programs — ensuring every equine receives thoughtful placement and lifelong care. Champion Fundraising: Collaborate on grants, fundraising campaigns, and community events that sustain our work and expand our reach. Ensure Integrity: Oversee insurance, legal, and state compliance to safeguard the organization and those we serve. Communicate Our Story: Manage outreach through phone, email, website updates, newsletters, and other communication channels to engage and inform our community. Strengthen Systems: Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed and aligned with our mission and values. Collaborate with the Board: Attend board meetings, providing transparent updates on operations, finances, and organizational growth. Act in Urgency: Lead with calm and compassion during emergencies, always prioritizing the welfare of the horses. Maintain Organizational Excellence: Oversee administrative details, such as vehicle registrations, memberships, and community relationships.

Who You Are

You are a natural leader and compassionate advocate who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. You bring:

Proven experience in leadership, business, nonprofit, or community service. A genuine love and understanding of horses and/or animal welfare. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. The ability to articulate a compelling vision and inspire others to join in it. A steady presence in both calm and crisis — grounded in empathy and integrity.

Why Join Us

At Equine Outreach, you’re not just taking on a role — you’re joining a movement built on compassion, hope, and second chances.
Here, every day offers a tangible opportunity to make a difference. You’ll work alongside dedicated volunteers, generous supporters, and — most importantly — the incredible horses whose lives your leadership will touch.

Together, we create a better world for horses, one rescue at a time.

If this sounds like the role for you, please contact us at admin@equineoutreach.org.

Volunteer: Family Respite Night Childcare Support

Central Oregon Disability Support Network (CODSN) is a non-profit offering support to families navigating disability in Central and Eastern Oregon. We offer a variety of services for our families, and we love what we do!

One service we offer is a night of self-care for caregivers to recharge their batteries! Self-care is vital for the wellbeing of all caregivers, and it can be difficult for caregivers of children with disabilities to access. This program provides unpaid caregivers an opportunity to receive 3 free hours of childcare once every three months. This event is on select Wednesdays from 5-8pm. Come play with kids for 3 hours while their caregivers have a night out! This would be a phenomenal opportunity for youth and families to help out together!

You do not need to commit to each respite night to help!

Skills Strengthened Through This Opportunity:

Communication and active listening skills with people of all agesThe ability to plan and put into practice fun activities for childrenIdentifying and implementing accommodation strategiesExperience promoting equity and inclusionA deeper understanding that everyone has the ability to learn, think, and understand, and that everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Flexibility and creative thinkingSelf-management skillsQuick decision making

Tasks that support skill-building:

Greet each child and their family, and help them feel welcome.Foster an environment where children and their families feel safe and supported.Encourage children to connect with one another and support their social-emotional development.Plan and carry out fun and age-appropriate activities for children of all ages and abilities (CODSN will provide materials).Actively engage in activities and provide any accommodations and/or support needed for all children to participate.

This program is supported by the Jason Opdyke Memorial Fund.

We would love some help developing marketing and online materials. This is a flexible-hours volunteer job based on projects that come up seasonally. We do have some staff experience with Adobe projects, but often need a professional touch to help our materials stand out.

High Desert Ranger Station: Volunteers open and close the building, raise the flag when open, make sure displays are clean and available to guests, prepare and deliver information about the historic building, the role of the US Forest Service, and provide information about forest management and ecosystems in the current era.

Photography Team: Capture in still photography and video all of the fun and beauty found at the Museum. Photographers are sent to document special events and daily programs.

Silver Sage Trading Display: Silver Sage Trading Display Volunteers support store staff and visitor experiences by refilling the existing merchandise displays, replacing items moved by visitors, performing general cleaning tasks, and making note of any items the store is running low on. This opportunity would be a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented and enjoys interacting with visitors. This position requires frequent trips up and down stairs, as well as carrying items around the store. Display volunteers must be flexible and creative – displays in Silver Sage aren’t static! Learn more

Silver Sage Trading Inventory:  Silver Sage Trading Inventory Volunteers have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at store operations and work closely with store staff to process new and incoming merchandise. Inventory Volunteers work closely with the Store Lead and other staff to open new boxes (it’s like opening a new present every day!), accurately price and label the items, and keep the stockroom organized. This opportunity would be a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented and enjoys methodical work.

Central Services Support: The Central Services Support Volunteers support our facilities staff to ensure the museum stays clean and presentable for visitors. This opportunity would be great for someone who enjoys physical labor and wants to volunteer while the visitors are away.

Trail Docent: The Trail Docent is responsible for making rounds inside the Museum and the outside trails while engaging visitors, answering questions, and notifying Museum staff of any safety and security concerns.

Changing Exhibits: Changing Exhibits Volunteers are responsible for guiding activities that supplement the interpretive opportunities available in our changing exhibits at the High Desert Museum. The primary function is to facilitate hands-on experiences, creating access for audiences, especially children, who might otherwise lack the prior knowledge necessary to engage fully with the passive interpretive elements of some of these exhibits. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the exhibits and ensure visitors of all ages are excited to return and feel welcomed into the Museum.

New Volunteer Orientations are scheduled monthly September through May.

Volunteer: Meals on Wheels Drivers - La Pine

What is Meals on Wheels? Meals on Wheels is a nationwide network of community-based, non-profit programs dedicated to providing older adults who are 60 years old or older and either home-bound or have difficulty shopping/cooking a nutritious meal, a friendly visit and a quick safety check.

What will I be doing when I volunteer? The volunteer job is delivering meals and friendly greetings to home-bound older adults. Most typically, this involves picking up meals at a central location and delivering them along a predetermined route directly to the homes of several older adults in the area. Most deliveries are done between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Once you are done, you return the delivery packaging items, report to the site coordinator and get back on your way.

We are looking for caring community & business members who have the knowledge or willingness to work on fundraising, media, budgets, and accounting. Individuals who have resources in the community that might be helpful in obtaining funds, supplies, and equipment for the outpatient treatment office or have experience working as a part of a healthy and functioning board are highly desired.

New Priorities Family Services is a substance and discrimination-free workplace. Background checks and substance use screenings must be completed for anyone volunteering to serve on the board or work with the program.
