This dedicated group of volunteers fights for those who cannot fight for themselves, battling invasive weeds at Land Trust protected lands throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

We have a few weekly shifts available at the nursery; Thurs from 9am - 12pm.  Seeking volunteers that can commit to a recurring schedule (with the expected absences due to living life in addition to volunteering of course).  Come enjoy the serenity of WinterCreek while learning about native plant production!  Typical tasks include organizing plants,  transplanting, weeding, and chatting with delightful and interesting people.  

Solarize is a community-based outreach initiative that reduces the cost and complexity of going solar by providing a one-stop shop for education and installation. This is a well-documented and tested model for increasing solar participation and we are excited to bring it to Bend. We will need people that can help with three functions 1) operations 2) outreach and marketing 3) RFP/contractor engagement.

BrightSide Animal Center relies on a crucial bottle and can redemption program as part of our mission to save and care for animals in need. Through generous donations of refundable bottles, cans, and plastics, we are able to fund essential services for our high-save animal shelter.

In 2016 alone, we sorted over 1.5 million items, thanks to our dedicated volunteers. But we need your help to keep the momentum going! Just 1 hour of your time each week can make a significant impact.

The Laundry Project, organized by St. Vincent de Paul Redmond, Oregon, is dedicated to providing free laundry services to community members. This project takes place on the 10th and 20th of each month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Express Eco Laundromat, located at 1604 S Hwy 97 #1, Redmond, OR 97756. During this time, we cover the cost of washers, dryers, soap, and dryer sheets, ensuring that everyone has access to clean laundry.In addition to laundry services, we also provide a hot meal, generously prepared and served by our dedicated volunteers. The Laundry Project is more than just a service; it is an opportunity to build community, offer support, and create a welcoming space for everyone involved.Our goal is to alleviate the burden of laundry costs for individuals and families, allowing them to allocate their resources to other essential needs. We believe that clean clothes can significantly impact a person’s dignity and self-worth, and we strive to make a positive difference through this initiative.

The Saving Grace Hospital Response Team (HRT) consists of staff and volunteers who respond to St. Charles Medical Center (in Bend or Redmond) for advocacy with sexual assault and intimate partner violence victims. HRT Advocates provide emotional support, information and referrals to survivors. An HRT Advocate must be able to respond to calls during evening and weekend shifts. HRT Advocate responsibilities include:

Empower our community by offering crisis support, information and referrals to survivors of domestic and sexual violence via the Saving Grace 24/7 Helpline.  Helpline advocates provide an invaluable service to callers by providing a kind, listening ear and connecting callers with other Saving Grace services.

NatureConnect Central Oregon is seeking support for in marketing, specifically in writing blogs and developing social media posts.  We have a small team and need support in telling our story to the community.  The hours are flexible and work can be virtual, if desired.  

NatureConnect is in need of an experienced volunteer photographer to help capture the impact of our programs and events.  Photographs would be used to help outreach for programs and promote our organization's work.  Our programs vary from school day programs to weekend programs, with lots of opportunities to choose from.  

Our mission is to support a healthy and thriving food & farm network in Central Oregon through education, collaboration, and inclusion. We believe that everyone deserves good food and we define good food as affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food that is easily accessible and sustainably produced in Central Oregon.  We recognize that not all Central Oregonians have the same access to this food, and are committed to improving equitable access for all through our programs.

Volunteering at Healing Reins is incredibly impactful and fun!  No horse experience needed, but you must be comfortable around horses.  The volunteer schedule is totally flexible and revolves around your schedule.  There are no minimum hours required.  Simply complete an application on our website (healingreins.org), attend a two-hour New Volunteer & Sidewalker Training and you are ready to help heal with horses!  Your Volunteer Manager will be there to assist and support you throughout your time at Healing Reins!  We look forward to seeing you in the arena!

Position Summary: Assist Instructors and Horse Leaders in creating a safe and fun learning environment for participants with special needs, by supporting participants before, during, and after sessions.

Qualifications:
● All Sidewalkers must have participated in the Healing Reins Sidewalker Training.
● Minimum age of 14.
● Able to physically react quickly and calmly to maximize safety of the participant and perform an emergency dismount of a participant.
● Able to walk with intermittent jogging for an hour at a time over uneven surfaces.
● Able to frequently stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Sidewalker Responsibilities:
● Assist participant with grooming the horse, as directed by the Instructor.
● Stay next to the participant both on and off the horse to maximize safety and provide stability
assistance and prompts as needed.
● Assist instructor with mounts and dismounts.
● Aid participant with lesson activities as directed by the instructor.
● Communicate with the Instructor and Horse Leader regarding the needs of the participant.
● Communicate with the participant regarding their needs and providing prompting or reminders
as needed.
● Work as a team with staff and other volunteers.
● Follow directions from the Instructors.
● Ensure compliance with all Healing Reins policies.

No horse experience necessary! We are in great need of people who want to get outside and work with our riders who have various needs - physical, behavioral, cognitive and mental health. Connect Central Oregon fosters community engagement, leadership, and volunteerism to build a connected and thriving region. The Central Oregon Volunteer Connect (COVC) Program Manager administers CCO's relationships with nonprofit and public organizations that engage volunteers through postings on our volunteer-connecting platform. This role includes recruiting, guiding, and assisting volunteer program managers and volunteers engaging with the platform. The COVC Program Manager also builds program engagement through service days, volunteering campaigns, and volunteer fairs.

We are seeking committed, self-motivated individuals to join our board of directors. We ask that board members be willing to serve for a minimum of three years. Our board members help provide overall direction for the organization, prioritize our services and make policy decisions about significant changes to our direction and focus. You are asked to utilize your social and professional networks to make people aware of LCA's work and how they can get involved to support our mission through volunteering, partnering and/or donating.  Finally, board members keep an eye on our finances and make sure we have the resources we need to carry out our plans and reach our service goals all within the laws that govern our work.

Our board currently meets a minimum of four times a year. Board members are asked to support one of our committees in between board meetings. Our committees include: Governance, Finance, Fundraising, Events and Advocacy.

The time commitment is typically 5-6 hours each quarter, or 2-3 hours per month. There is nor set amount our board members are asked to donate to the organization, but we do ask every board member to make a financial contribution that is meaningful to him or her.

It’s amazingly simple. You just organize a small group of neighbors to be Food Donors. Each donor gets a reusable green bag to store food in. Every two months you pick up their full bag, leave an empty one for next time, and bring all the bags to a drop-off point, where volunteers receive and sort it.

Our Food Donors commit to filling the green bag we supply to be collected by a Neighborhood Coordinator every other month (second Saturday of every even month). About YouthBuild Mentoring

Mentoring is one of the many services—including academic coursework, vocational training, and leadership development—provided by your local YouthBuild program. YouthBuild mentors are caring adults from the community who volunteer their time to work directly with students as they pursue their educational and career goals. We feel our mentors are one of the critical supports in helping our students get the most out of the program and continuing on a positive path once they transition out of YouthBuild. 

Who are our students?
Our students are young men and women ages 16-24 who have previously dropped out of school and are returning to get their diploma or GED and learn skills for success in their career and life. Many have been in trouble with the law, in the foster care system, or the victim of abuse or exploitation. Most of them have made the decision to “flip the script” on their life, working toward a brighter future for themselves, their family, and their community.

Why do YouthBuild students need mentors?
Behind every successful adult is at least one mentor who helped them overcome a challenge or opened their world to new possibilities. If you reflect on your own life, you will surely think of many caring adults outside your immediate family who helped support you at various points along the way. Mentors inspire us, teach us, challenge us to be better people and achieve our goals.

Unfortunately, many of the young people who come to YouthBuild lack these positive role models in their lives. They may have found negative role models in the absence of positive individuals. While they meet many caring adults during their time in YouthBuild, a mentor from the community is uniquely positioned to provide positive support to the youth when and where they need it the most: In the community. YouthBuild mentors enhance the work of our staff and provide additional support to our students as they take the next steps in their lives.

Who serves as YouthBuild mentors?
Our mentors come from all walks of life. We do not require any special skills or abilities, but we do ask that mentors meet our minimum requirements:

What do mentors and students do together?
Mostly, have a lot of fun! They usually meet in the community at times that are convenient for both the student and the mentor. Often they will do an activity related to the student’s Life Plan, a guiding document that helps the youth set goals in the areas of education, career, family, finances, health, and personal relationships. This might include looking into colleges, exploring a career, or learning how to stick to a budget or become a better cook. But there is also plenty of room for just hanging out, talking about life, and simply having fun together. Occasionally, mentors and students will also take part in service projects or other group activities that lend a bit more structure to the relationship. But mostly, you and your student will work together to come up with activities that work for both of you.

Organizing, filling, other office duties that are needed at the time.

Hospice volunteers are essential members of the hospice team. Hospice volunteers provide companionship to people living with a serious illness who are nearing the end of life. They help family caregivers in a variety of ways. Hospices also rely on volunteers to help with office work, fundraising, community outreach and other operational areas. Extensive training and ongoing support are provided.

Hospice volunteering can be categorized into two categories: Direct care and Indirect care.

Direct Patient or Family Care Volunteers:

Direct care volunteers work directly with patients, families, and caregivers. The role of this hospice volunteer is more focused on companionship and spending time with patients rather than providing medical care. They go to where the patient lives – whether in their home, nursing home, or long-term health care facility. Examples of direct care include playing games, talking about memories and promoting life review, preparing food for the patient, reading to them, playing music, helping in the garden, going for walks, helping family members (caregivers) with some of their daily tasks or providing respite so they may care for themselves, informing the hospice team about any needs of the patient or caregivers. Patient care volunteers are empathetic, compassionate and good listeners.

Vigil Volunteers:

This hospice volunteer role provides a supportive presence during the patient’s final hours. Vigil volunteers, however, should have experience in patient care and family support volunteering. They support patients and families by: Holding the patient’s hands while speaking or reading to them, playing an instrument or singing the patient’s favorite songs, comforting presence at the patient’s bedside, reassuring caregivers and family members who cannot be present and staying with the patient during their final hours.

Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers:

Veterans often value communication with their fellow veterans – a person who also has an experience in the military service culture. Veteran hospice volunteers listen and share stories about military experiences, help obtain missing medals of the patient, record stories for the family’s legacy.

Pet Therapy Volunteers:

Therapy pet owners and their therapy pets will undergo training on interacting with hospice patients and families. Many studies proved that cuddling animals could increase a patient’s comfort level and decrease their physical pain.

Massage Therapist Volunteers:

We are looking for professional licensed massage therapists who can provide their talents and skills to help relax patients and relieve some of their stress and pain. Massage therapists can perform various massages and other therapies for patients.

Bereavement Volunteers:

These hospice volunteers call families or caregivers who lost a loved one to provide support and empathetic listening. They also remind them that Hospice is always there to provide support and other assistance during the grieving period.

Indirect Care Volunteering:

Even if hospice volunteers do not directly care for the patient and families, they can provide their support by helping the organization with administrative, fundraising, and community outreach programs. For example, volunteers who have experience working in the office can work as administrative volunteers. Their previous knowledge and skills can benefit the hospice organization’s daily tasks. Some tasks done by an administrative volunteer include answering emails and phone calls, doing clerical and data entry jobs, preparing brochures and mailings, assisting in fundraising campaigns, helping with outreach programs or events.

We need support with the addition of irrigation in an area where the students are conducting habitat restoration - creating a pollinator garden. We'd also like to add drip irrigation to other areas in front area of our campus - it's rather bleak out front due to lack of water. 

We also could benefit from someone weed-wacking throughout the year. We do have a cheat grass problem both inside our fenced schoolyard and out. 

We need in-classroom readers to support our early literacy program.

We'd like volunteers to read to students, and be read to. And we are seeking volunteers who will want to engage with students - help them with words if they need help. 

We have various indoor and outdoor enhancement work that is likely to only get accomplished by a carpenter. Some items can be taken home and worked on or built.

For the last seven years, our Desert Sky School Board has predominantly been made of volunteers from our parent body. We'd love to add external members to increase the diversity of thought as well as to increase our demographic diversity. We'd love to find new Board members with non-profit experience, public school experience, financial experience and capital campaign experience.

The Central Oregon Guardian Assistance Program (COGAP) is on a mission to provide pro bono guardianship services to Central Oregonians with limited means who are incapacitated and as a result, unable to make medical, housing, and financial decisions for themselves. We help people who are unable to make decisions regarding medical treatment, housing and nutrition due to a lack of capacity by providing pro bono guardianship services to those in need.  Often these individuals may be unhoused, dealing with learning or cognitive disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, or substance abuse disorders.

Grow & Give

Through our Grow & Give Program, we partner with local farms to organize on-farm harvesting events where we collect produce that may otherwise go to waste. Our Harvest Team is an on-call crew, ready to help get edible produce out of the field and into local food banks and pantries. Check our website for current on-farm gleaning opportunities. 

NeighborImpact Food Bank

Our food bank sources, recovers and distributes approximately 6 million pounds through our network of local pantries, meal sites and shelters in Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The NeighborImpact Food Network feeds 60,000 individuals every month including children, families and older adults.

Our program depends on the generosity of our community to provide fresh, quality food to our partner agencies.

Order and purchase necessary lumber and supplies for each bed build

Monitor and adjust the workflow to eliminate bottlenecks and to complete a safe build
Manage set up and tear down of the build train
Manage organization of storage units, tool inventory and tool repair/replacement

The Central Oregon Symphony Association is seeking new Board Members to help promote the growth and development of the Central Oregon Symphony through education, fundraising, marketing and public relations.

The NeighborImpact HomeSource team offers a range of programs and services to help people manage, grow and protect their assets. This includes HUD-certified Financial Education workshops, Homebuyer Education workshops, and the IDA Matched Savings program.

·         Support our HUD-certified staff lead classes targeted towards anyone who wants to develop better financial management skills and break the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle.

Have you or someone you love been negatively impacted by substance misuse? Have you asked yourself, “How could this have been prevented?” Do you want to foster health, safety, and prosperity in your community?

The Shared Future Coalition is dedicated to preventing underage alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana use in Deschutes County. Your perspective on our community, your leadership, and your expertise are needed to strengthen substance misuse prevention efforts in our community.

The Shared Future Coalition has an 18-member Advisory Board guided by Public Health professionals from Deschutes County Health Services. It is made up of representatives from at least 12 different sectors of the community: parents, youth, schools, health care, law enforcement, media/communications, religious/fraternal organizations, youth-serving organizations, government, businesses, other prevention, and civic/volunteer groups. The Coalition operates as a collaborative team, leveraging knowledge, resources, and opportunities throughout the community to reduce adolescent and young adult alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drug misuse/abuse. Your unique history, skills, and insights about our community are vital to strategic planning for prevention projects and initiatives.

Advisory Board meetings are a blend of topics necessary to steward prevention projects and initiatives: assessment, capacity building, strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, sustainability, and cultural responsiveness. Training about prevention science and best practices is provided through meeting design, webinars, and in-person events. No previous experience with alcohol/drug misuse prevention is required.

Qualifications:

Alcohol and drug prevention coalitions are present in almost every county in Oregon, as well as across the nation. Community members, like you are making a positive impact by leaning into their roles as change-makers. Together, we can make a difference!

General Volunteers help where needed day to day.  Examples may include helping tidy up visit rooms in Child Welfare, family friendly spaces where children and parents experiencing the child welfare system engage in family time.  Other duties can include making photocopies, assisting caseworkers with a variety of tasks, organizing donations such as diapers or clothing, and making phone calls to community partners to gather information. Volunteer opportunities available in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties.  Background check required. 

Greet and direct clients as they walk into the lobby of the Oregon Department of Human Services. Volunteer duties include assisting in keeping bulletin boards and information tables up to date with local agency informational pamphlets and helping keep lobbies welcoming by tidying up flyers, pamphlets, and other information placed in customer areas.  Lobbies serve Child Welfare, Self Sufficiency, and Aging and People with Disabilities programs.  

Assist Oregon Dept of Human Service Child Welfare caseworkers transport parents to a variety of appointments or for visitation with their children.  Opportunity available in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties.  Background check required. Volunteer may use personal vehicle or one registered to the state of Oregon.  Drivers using personal cars are paid back for fuel at a higher rate than what fuel costs to account for wear and tear on their vehicle.

Shepherd's House Ministries feeds more than 300 people daily whether they are a guest at the overnight shelter, one of our residents or a guest from our community.

This is a great way for teams or families to get involved, help out and have some quality time together.

There are several different ways you can help feed our guests, residents and food insecure with SHM. We have opportunities for preparation at both our Men's Center and Redmond Center. Help with plating and distribution at Shower Truck, Project SHARE, Franklin Ave Shelter and Lighthouse Navigation Center. Help transport food between our centers.

Help bunnies without a long-term commitment. Bunnies that are socialized in foster care are more likely to get adopted! Our foster parents provide a clean, safe, loving environment for homeless bunny(ies) on a temporary basis, with the ultimate goal of adopting them into loving, permanent indoor homes as soon as a suitable match is found.

We ask for at least a one month commitment, although keeping them longer is up to you. Some families take care of the bunny(ies) until they get adopted. Others are on a short-term basis.

Join Brightside's community of youth volunteers aged 9 to 17 and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in need! At Brightside, young volunteers have the opportunity to lend a helping hand both at our shelter and our thrift store.

Whether you're seeking to fulfill community service hours for school credit or simply have a passion for supporting animals, we welcome you! Our youth volunteers play an essential role in various tasks, from assisting with animal socialization, to sorting bottles & cans in our recycling program, and providing shelter buddy assistance at our shelter. 

For the safety and supervision of our younger volunteers, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older or a parent during their volunteer shifts.

Become a foster at BrightSide Animal Center and make a life changing difference for animals in need. By providing a temporary home, you’ll help unwanted and displaced animals become healthy, well-socialized, and ready for their forever new families.

As a foster, you could temporarily house; kittens, puppies, adult dogs, or seniors, giving them the love and care they need to grow and thrive. You might also provide a weekend out for animals who just need a break from the shelter environment. If you have a special place in your heart for those in need of extra compassion, consider becoming a “fospice” caregiver, where you’ll offer a loving home to a sick or elderly animal for the remainder of its life.

Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience. You’ll be giving these animals the best chance at a happy, healthy future, and in return, you’ll have made a real difference in their journey. BrightSide provides all needed supplies during your foster time, we just ask for to open your heart and home. 

The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Are you passionate about putting an end to Alzheimer's disease? Do you want to get more involved with the Alzheimer's Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer's? Then we need you! Join our local Walk to End Alzheimer's Planning Committee and help grow the movement to end Alzheimer's from the ground up.

Committee members plan each Walk to End Alzheimer's event from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Activities of our local committee include the following:

Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia.

Key Activities:

·         Facilitate groups of caregivers or people living with dementia to provide social and educational support helping group members provide emotional support to one another.

·         Present pertinent Association materials and information to group members and assure a positive experience for attendees.

·         Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer's Association programs & free 24/7 Helpline.

Qualifications:

·         Strong listening and effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to be empathic and separate personal needs from group needs.

·         Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion as well as fulfill the Facilitator duties and responsibilities as described in onboarding.

·         Ability to create and maintain a safe environment where participants’ thoughts and feelings are valued and group members are treated with fairness, equity and respect.

·         Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred.

·         Must be age 21 to apply. Background checks are required.

Commitment Expected:

·         Support Group Facilitators commit to a 1-year term delivering a monthly group.

·         All program volunteers participate in initial training and ongoing education and must comply with Alzheimer’s Association volunteer policies and procedures.

·         Terms are renewable upon successful completion of annual goal-setting conversation with your staff partner.
