BrightSide Animal Center relies on a crucial bottle and can redemption program as part of our mission to save and care for animals in need. Through generous donations of refundable bottles, cans, and plastics, we are able to fund essential services for our high-save animal shelter.

In 2016 alone, we sorted over 1.5 million items, thanks to our dedicated volunteers. But we need your help to keep the momentum going! Just 1 hour of your time each week can make a significant impact.

This is a great activity for individuals, families, and groups. Sorting is simple, and you’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team.

Are you passionate about animals and love being social? As a Front Desk Liaison at BrightSide Animal Center, you’ll have the opportunity to be a matchmaker, connecting our adoptable animals with their perfect forever homes. You’ll also be the friendly face that greets our community, answering calls, providing information, and assisting our adoption specialist. Your role will extend to supporting our pet food pantry, where you’ll help ensure that every pet in our community has access to food, and provide valuable support to our staff with various tasks that keep our shelter running smoothly.

Do you love spending time with dogs and want to make a difference in their lives? As a Dog Socializer at BrightSide Animal Center, you’ll play a vital role in the well-being and happiness of our shelter dogs.

In this role, your time spent socializing and walking with the dogs is crucial, as it helps them build trust and become more adoptable. You’ll also be providing key enrichment activities that keep their minds and bodies active, ensuring they stay happy and healthy while they wait for their forever homes.

Beyond socialization, you’ll help fill water bowls and maintain the cleanliness of their living environments, making sure our dogs are comfortable and cared for.

The BrightSide Animal Center Thrift Store plays a vital role in supporting our high-save shelter. Whether you’re a thrifting enthusiast or just love helping a great cause, there’s a place for you on our team!

At our thrift store, you might find yourself receiving donations, sorting and pricing items, stocking the sales floor, going out on donation pick-ups, or organizing areas of the thrift store. With so many tasks happening each day, there’s always something to do and we’ll work to match your talents to what we need.

Join Brightside's community of youth volunteers aged 9 to 17 and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in need! At Brightside, young volunteers have the opportunity to lend a helping hand both at our shelter and our thrift store.

Whether you're seeking to fulfill community service hours for school credit or simply have a passion for supporting animals, we welcome you! Our youth volunteers play an essential role in various tasks, from assisting with animal socialization, to sorting bottles & cans in our recycling program, and providing shelter buddy assistance at our shelter. 

For the safety and supervision of our younger volunteers, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older or a parent during their volunteer shifts.

By volunteering with Brightside, you not only gain valuable experience and skills but also contribute to the well-being of animals in our community. Join us in making a difference today!

Become a foster at BrightSide Animal Center and make a life changing difference for animals in need. By providing a temporary home, you’ll help unwanted and displaced animals become healthy, well-socialized, and ready for their forever new families.

As a foster, you could temporarily house; kittens, puppies, adult dogs, or seniors, giving them the love and care they need to grow and thrive. You might also provide a weekend out for animals who just need a break from the shelter environment. If you have a special place in your heart for those in need of extra compassion, consider becoming a “fospice” caregiver, where you’ll offer a loving home to a sick or elderly animal for the remainder of its life.

Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience. You’ll be giving these animals the best chance at a happy, healthy future, and in return, you’ll have made a real difference in their journey. BrightSide provides all needed supplies during your foster time, we just ask for to open your heart and home.
