Volunteer: YouthLine Coaching Volunteer!Want to be a mentor to an AWESOME team of teens and young adults making a difference in the lives of their peers? Interested in gaining hands-on experience using crisis intervention and de-escalation skills? Become a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine in Central Oregon! YouthLine is a free, confidential teen-to-teen help, support and crisis line that operates every day from 4-10 PM PST (3-10 PM on Wednesday). Teens call, text, email or chat us with anything that may be bothering them; including issues like family and relationship problems, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other tough issues. No issue is too big or too small for an individual to reach out about! Volunteers are always supervised by masters-level clinicians. Additionally, staff and volunteers from the YouthLine offer an outreach program across Oregon to destigmatize mental health challenges, increase awareness for mental health and wellness, and encourage youth to reach out for help. We are looking for passionate adults (21+) with experience or education in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related fields in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties to become a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine! The Coaching Volunteer position offers adult volunteers the opportunity to mentor youth volunteers on YouthLine, while providing support to the YouthLine masters-level supervisor. Coaching volunteers go through extra training that allows them to effectively mentor our youth on crisis calls; and receive certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, at no cost to the volunteer. Coaching Volunteers commit to volunteer at least 7 hours a week during YouthLine Hours. By volunteering with us, you get to be a powerful voice of hope for other teens and young adults! As a Coaching Volunteer, you’ll receive extensive training and ongoing personal and professional development. Becoming a Coaching Volunteer with YouthLine is a great way to earn internship credits and/or practicum or service hours! On top of that, volunteering with us looks great on resumes and scholarship award or graduate school applications!

Volunteers are always supervised by masters-level clinicians. You’ll also participate in outreach activities, such as classroom education, tabling, or speaking at an event. By volunteering with us, you get to be a powerful voice of hope for other teens and young adults and meet other like-minded volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference! As a volunteer, you’ll receive 63 hours of training and ongoing personal and professional development. On top of that, volunteering with us looks great on resumes and college applications!
