Opportunities From: Connect Central Oregon

COPY is offering a winter volunteer orientation/training for people interested in becoming a mentor for a child with an incarcerated parent. This 3 1/2-hour class covers program policies, how to establish a mentor relationship, the impact incarceration has on families, and communication skills. There is no cost to attend, but advanced registration is required. Light refreshments provided.

Come join us for a day of service helping us build homes in Redmond for our community. No experience necessary and we provide all the tools, safety equipment, and fun. We build award winning, sustainable homes that help families, Central Oregon, and our environment. Help us build homes, communities, and hope. Multiple shifts available. 1-4 or a full day 9-4. We take lunch at 12. Our AM shift is now full.

This opportunity is for ages 18 and older due to safety requirements on the construction site.

SMART Reading is a statewide children’s literacy nonprofit with a mission to spark joy and opportunity through the magic of a shared book.  

Through SMART Reading’s Book Bank, we give new life to community-donated children’s books in order to fill homes and lives with engaging, culturally diverse books. We accept new and gently used children’s books, clean and refurbish them with help from community volunteers, and distribute them to local kids and families that we are not currently able to serve with our shared reading programs.  

Come lend a hand as we spruce-up donated books which will later be distributed to thousands of children in the Central Oregon area. Every book is inspected and cleaned by volunteers, which includes wiping covers, taping torn pages, erasing scribbles, and covering inscriptions. No previous experience is needed to volunteer and all necessary supplies are provided.

Small Things in a Great Way Day

All ages welcome! Bring gloves, tools, and your community spirit.

Join us as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service, connection, and community spirit! WVMS families, students, staff, and neighbors are invited to spend the morning lending a hand on a variety of projects that help our school shine.

We’ll roll up our sleeves and work together on tasks big and small—sprucing up outdoor spaces, organizing materials, refreshing learning areas, and pitching in wherever an extra pair of helpful hands is needed. It’s a joyful way to live out Dr. King’s message of unity, compassion, and collective action.

Let’s come together, make a difference, and help our Village thrive—one project, one smile, and one act of service at a time. “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.” - MLK

Please join us to help strengthen your community! Fun for all ages! Bring your friends and family too!

We are excited to share this morning with you!  We have activities that can be for ages 5 (with care giver present) to 85 years!

Areas to choose from to help day of:

1.  Deep-clean everything within our 3 classrooms, front desk and kitchen, creating a sparkling clean space for our hardworking teachers and the children we serve! (Gloves and supplies provided.)  Please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.

2.  Create handcrafted unique thank-you, birthday, anniversary cards etc. using vibrant fingerpaint art by MountainStar kiddos—an artistic way to spread gratitude to our community supporters!

All supplies and snacks provided.  Come for the entire time or as your schedule allows.  Invite others to join you! 

Please be sure to register the numbers in your group if under one name.

Calling folks of all ages to join Camp Fire Central Oregon at our annual Valentines for Veterans event this MLK Jr. National Day of Service! Bring your crafting spirit and warm thoughts as we gather to make handmade thank-you cards for U.S. Veterans, which Camp Fire will deliver to them on Valentine's Day! This event packs the house, builds community and cheer, and gives back to our service members. We'll also have a U.S. Veteran guest speaker! Bring all your friends, family, or just yourselves, plus make some new friends! Come help fill the hearts and mailboxes of hospitalized veterans this year. Details: Monday, January 19th, 9:00-11:30 am Bend Church, 680 NW Bond Street in Bend. *Please enter through the office door on Staats St.

StirrUp Purpose has a project plan to build an activity storage rack for the arena, paint the mounting blocks that help our participants get onto the horse and paint the poles that are used in obstacle courses and figures during hippotherapy and horsemanship. Volunteers are needed to build and paint. All materials would be provided but paint donations are always welcome!
