Who We Are
Heart of Oregon Corps' (HOC) six programs hire and train 225 youth annually in the fields of conservation, construction, childcare, and customer service. These programs are: High Desert Conservation Corps (HDCC), Stewardship, YouthBuild, Central Oregon Youth Conservation Corps (COYCC), Camp LEAD, and our Thrift Store program in Madras. Our programs follow a work-earn-learn model that engages youth to build confidence, a sense of purpose, and drive for their futures.
What We Do
Heart of Oregon Corps empowers youth and young adults through employment, job training, education, and service to Central Oregon communities. Through this work, we will create a future with equitable opportunities in Central Oregon.
Founded in 2000, Heart of Oregon Corps has provided job training and education opportunities for over 4,750 youth ages 16-24 who are disconnected from school and work. Over the past two decades, HOC youth have built 36 affordable homes, improved 48,000 acres of public lands, and earned $2 million+ in AmeriCorps education scholarships. Our critical career readiness training, education, and follow up services empower youth to seek opportunities and become leaders within their communities. Heart of Oregon Corps trains tomorrow's workforce today!
