Who We Are

United Way of Central Oregon, works for the health, education, financial stability, and resilience of every person in our Central Oregon community. These four areas are intrinsically bound to the success of every child, every individual, every family, every community, and every economy. They are interconnected and, when strategically addressed, conspire to create communities where all people thrive.

We are a local fundraiser and a local funder. The money we raise here, stays here, and serves this community. We strategically invest in our community's well-being by funding programs administered by the local organizations providing the best services in our focus areas.

We are a convener, bringing together community leaders, local governments, other funders, nonprofits, and stakeholders, to collaborate and coordinate efforts to effectively address our most complicated social issues. We are convening around imbalances and building a map forward so that when today’s kids are tomorrow’s adults they can thrive. We are moving upstream to address the root cause of issues that are immediate today so that they don’t exist tomorrow.

For 69 years, we’ve been connecting caring people to improve lives and shape a better community. United Way of Central Oregon belongs to OUR Central Oregon community.

What We Do

United Way of Central Oregon fights for the health, education, financial stability and resilience of every person in our Central Oregon community. Our mission is "bringing people together to improve lives and strengthen our community." We do this by:

  1. NEEDS ASSESSMENT. Every 2 years, we commission a study of financial hardship called ALICE. Nearly 40% of Central Oregonians were living on the edge before COVID-19.
  1. GRANTMAKING. This year we've funded 36 Partners with $280,000 in grant funds. 26% of Central Oregonians are served by at least one of these programs. We’ve awarded $1,065,000 to 58 local nonprofits since the pandemic began.
  1. COLLECTIVE ACTION. We're reducing disparities and increasing equity through and through the TRACEs movement. We've touched the lives of 8,200+ individuals - leading, convening, and collaborating with 150 public, private, and nonprofit sector partners to build resilience in Central Oregon.
