The Ochoco National Forest and Crooked River National Grassland has numerous protection fences built around sensitive areas that we are trying to restore these include, aspen groves, sensitive riparian habitat and sensitive plant locations. Over several years a number of these have been constructed. We are looking for people to travel to these fences, gps their perimeter and give us some basic feedback on fence condition. Ideally volunteers would have a smart phone that they could use to navigate to the fence location and gps the fence perimeter with. We will show the volunteer how to use their smart phones to accomplish these tasks. Volunteers will also need to have a vehicle capable of driving on gravel roads.
This is an excellent opportunity to help us in our ongoing restoration efforts, to explore the Ochoco National Forest and the Crooked River National Grassland and to see places off the beaten path.
