Empower our community by offering crisis support, information and referrals to survivors of domestic and sexual violence via the Saving Grace 24/7 Helpline. Helpline advocates provide an invaluable service to callers by providing a kind, listening ear and connecting callers with other Saving Grace services.
Prerequisites:
- Complete Saving Grace 40 Hour Advocate training
- Observe and practice answering calls with staff
Helpline Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with at least one overnight shift per month
- Answer the Saving Grace helpline from home
- Empower clients by providing information, resources and support
- Provide information regarding types of services available to callers
- Perform initial screening for clients seeking shelter
- Educate callers about intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking
- Work as a team with back-up staff and other volunteers
- De-brief with staff members as needed
- Submit helpline stats at the end of every shit
- Respect confidentiality
- Advocate for clients
