Is there any better feeling than the thrill of a bike ride with friends? No doubt you remember feeling a new-found sense of independence when you finally got the hang of riding on two wheels.
Due to different ability levels and life circumstances, some children have not experienced this rite of passage. Bike for Life wants to change that! Bike for Life is a five-day camp designed to help individuals learn how to ride bicycles. Volunteers help children learn to ride, in two-hour shifts.
Riding a bike:
- gives a child freedom
- helps teach independence
- is a viable form of transportation
- offers opportunities for kids to interact with their neighborhood and school friends
- provides exercise and fun!
Using specially-designed bikes that can be adapted to any skill level or disability, Bike for Life offers a week-long camp. Kids are paired with two volunteer assistants during daily sessions where they gain the skills to ride a two-wheel bike!
