Our Mission

At Equine Outreach Horse Rescue, we believe that every horse deserves respect, dignity, love, and compassionate care. Based in Bend, OR, we accept as many abused, neglected, medically compromised, senior, and equines with uncertain futures as we can. From there, we focus on providing top-grade medical care, rehabilitation, positive training, and all the love, hugs, and TLC we can give. Some horses become sanctuary horses or hospice horses who remain in our care, while others are carefully and meticulously adopted or fostered out into loving homes.

Opportunity

Equine Outreach is seeking a compassionate and driven Executive Director to champion our cause. This volunteer role presents an exciting opportunity to serve our local community in Bend, OR, directly impacting the lives of horses in need and shaping the future of our organization.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Support the EOI Ranch Manager who oversees the daily operations of Equine Outreach, 
  • Support the Volunteer Manager in recruiting, training and retaining high quality volunteers. 
  • Managing the intake, adoption and foster processes critical to supporting the equines under the care of the organization.
  • Supporting fundraising initiatives, including grants, general fundraising campaigns and events to secure necessary resources for our mission.
  • Overseeing all organizational insurances and ensure compliance with all legal and state licensing requirements.
  • Oversee and manage all communication channels including answering phone and email inquiries, updating the website, supporting the monthly newsletter, and managing the organization's internal communications.
  • Ensure policies are implemented and adhered to consistently across the organization.
  • Attend board meetings as requested, providing comprehensive updates on operations, financial status, and other organizational matters.
  • Manage emergency situations at the ranch, making necessary decisions for the welfare of the horses.
  • Support the Admin Coordinator ensuring all other organizational level administrative activities including but not limited to, vehicle registrations, community group  memberships, etc. are carried out as needed. 

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, business and community service experience, preferably with a background in animal welfare. The ability to articulate a compelling vision for the future of Equine Outreach, inspiring and motivating staff, volunteers, and donors, is essential.
