Who We Are
PET is run entirely by dedicated volunteers who love helping people and animals. PET volunteers do everything from caring for animals in temporary shelters during fire evacuations to working behind the scenes on social media and fundraising. New volunteers are always needed, and welcome, and are invited to fill out an application & waiver and to attend our trainings (required).
What We Do
The Pet Evacuation Team (PET) exists to serve people and animals in crisis. Emergency animal evacuations and sheltering during disasters are critical to our community and save lives. We work in partnership with the Red Cross, law enforcement and local emergency services during Central Oregon evacuations, providing care and a safe haven for animals who have been evacuated. We have assisted in disasters for over 20 years, including 16 local wildfire evacuations, and a flood in Prineville. PET also provides crucial support to individuals with animal/pet-related emergencies, and to law enforcement in animal seizure cases. Our all-volunteer, non-profit organization serves all of Deschutes County, and parts of Jefferson and Crook Counties.
