

Who We Are
As Stewards of Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests and Crooked River National Grassland, Discover Your Forest’s key objectives are to:
Engage youth to reach the next generation of stewards through educational outreach and career exploration programs.
- Host school groups at Forest Service sites.
- Facilitate Project SNOW and Snow School.
- Implement Junior Forest Ranger programs.
- Sponsor family-focused community events.
- Manage and fund internships year-round.
- Support Children’s Forest of Central Oregon’s efforts.
Provide visitor services, interpretive programs and events to increase visitor numbers and diversity.
- Sponsor community educational events.
- Operate 11 retail and pass sale locations throughout Central Oregon.
- Produce and distribute visitor publications, interpretive guides and trail maps.
- Provide signage for interpretive programs and trails.
- Manage Snowshoe and Hike with Ranger programs.
- Host Ranger Talks at Forest Service sites.
Deepen the personal commitment and involvement of the local community through events, stewardship, and volunteerism.
- Expand capacity of interpretive and education volunteers.
- Increase support for other Forest Service Volunteer needs such as Trails, Wilderness,
- Restoration, Events, Recreation and more!
- Manage customized robust web-based volunteer database to enhance recruiting, matching, managing, tracking and recognizing volunteers.
What We Do
A local non-profit serving Central Oregon forests as stewards of Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests and Crooked River Grassland.
Discover Your Forest was established through a partnership between the Deschutes National Forest and Discover Your Northwest, (a 501(3)c non-profit) to serve as stewards of the Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests and Crooked River Grassland.
