Friends of the Breitenbush Cascades (FBC) welcomes and embraces our diverse volunteer communities for the Oregon Spring Cleanup at Lower Breitenbush Hot Springs and dispersed recreation sites on Breitenbush River.
We invite everyone and supporters of Friends of the Breitenbush Cascades, along with hot spring enthusiasts of Breitenbush and Lower Breitenbush Hot Springs, and recreation enthusiasts of the Breitenbush Watershed to come and cleanup around the springs, dispersed camps, and road access points. This event on April 22nd will occur in celebration of Earth Day as part of our Adopt-A-River programming for the Breitenbush River.
Please bring appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and sack lunch. After cleaning the spring area in the morning we will gather at the bathhouse ruins at 1pm for a sack lunch, discussion and updates on the present status of the springs, after lunch those that can please remain so we can continue cleaning the soaking pools.
This is a rain or shine event. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided by SOLVE.
Sign up table will be the parking area to the Lower Breitenbush Hot Springs on FS 4600-050 (Breitenbush Road, Hwy 46). The event is not located at Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat & Conference Center, but is adjacent and downtream.
TIME:
9am - 4pm. Arrive as early as you can and stay as long as you can. Consider coming into the area to camp for the weekend.

DRIVE DIRECTIONS:
Hwy 46 or Breitenbush RD SE. The Hwy 46 junction is on Hwy 22 between Salem and Bend, OR. At Detroit, OR take hwy 46 (or Breitenbush RD) north approximately 11 miles. On Hwy 46 drive beyond Cleator Bend Group and the Breitenbush Campground. A short distance further the will be a sharp turn on the highway and FS 4600-050 and continue straight onto the gravel road. The gravel road will come to a gate across the road, and the parking lot will be on the right right before the gate. On google maps you can search for: Old Bath houses at Hot Springs. Meeting Location: A popup and table will be in the parking lot.

What to Bring: Dress appropriately for rain or shine. Bring water, snacks/food. Can camp at dispersed recreation sites in the area.
What's Provided: SOLVE will provide trash grabbers, trash bags, work gloves, and high-vis vests.

Accessibility: This area may not be easily accessible for folks with mobility concerns.
Translation Services: There will not be a Spanish speaker present at this event.
Youth Volunteers: Volunteers 13 and under must be accompanied by an authorized adult.
