Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life by becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister. As a mentor, you'll provide guidance, support, and friendship to a local youth, helping them navigate challenges and explore new opportunities. Volunteers commit to spending a few hours a month engaging in activities that build trust and foster personal growth. This role not only positively impacts the young person's life but also enriches your own, creating lasting bonds and memories. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon serves the Bend, Redmond, Madras, Prineville, and La Pine areas. We are a part of the nation’s largest mentoring network solely supported by donors and volunteers. Be someone who matters to someone who matters. Qualifications: A Big must be over 21 years old, have lived in Central Oregon for at least 6 months, and have a valid driver's license and vehicle. A big must be able to pass a criminal and DMV background check. You are committing to spend 6-12 hours a month with your Little for a minimum of one year. This usually equals out to two outings a month with your Little. The process starts by completing the application on our website, having a 20 minute orientation phone call with a BBBSCO staff member, agreeing to background checks, a 90 minute online training and a 90 minute interview either in-person or via Zoom.
Responsibilities: Providing mentorship to a child. Sharing your interests and hobbies and enjoying activities out in the community. Providing a consistent & reliable presence. Developing and maintaining trust. Commitment to growth and discovery through support and challenge. Maintaining regular contact with Match Support Specialist.
